Day One: Ground Rules

For the next 30 days, starting tomorrow (October 3, 2012), I will be undergoing what I call the "Yes Man" project. Do not let the title fool you, I am not a man, but I just think Yes Woman is too many syllables. The truth is whether it's woman or man doesn't really matter to me, I just kept it man because most people have heard of the movie and it will be easier for them to relate.

Now, though it seems like I should, I can't just go around saying yes to anything. My school grades would suffer, amongst many things, and I could get into great trouble. Also, what do I do if I say yes to an event on Saturday at 3:00 and someone comes along and asks me to go to another event on Saturday, at 3:00? Overall, I need ground rules.

GROUND RULES
*Nothing Harmful
*Nothing Immoral
*Nothing Illegal
*When two opportunities are presented only attend the first one agreed on
*Nothing Impossible
       * If someone back home in Maryland asks me to do something back home when I am here in Tennessee, I can't
*From 3:00 to 5:00 everyday I am exempt from this project
-This will be my time to GET SCHOOLWORK DONE

So I guess now you want to know why I chose this out of all things to do? Well, there are many reasons. One, I know someone very close to me in my life who never got to live. They never made it out of the womb. Since discovering this person I decided and realized that I am here on this earth for a reason, and it is unfair to that person if I waste my life away and don't take advantage of each day I have been given. However, I have also have a very non-adventurous personality that creates me to always say no to opportunities. I have not always been this way and in fact used to be very adventurous, but many things in my life have happened to me that have created me to become more fearful. So overall I have decided that I need something like this to show me what life would be like if I said yes to every opportunity. My goal is to become a more adventure loving person again, and I hope that God uses this to make me grow stronger in my faith with Him.

I want to base this process of off "Time means much, People mean more, Things mean little, Faith means most." This is a quote I heard one day in chapel. Times means much is covered by the act of saying yes to everything and not wasting any time. Faith means most is covered by the Sunday dedication, and the other two I believe will be covered in the process. Meaning, I am sure I will have to learn things mean little when a homeless man asks me to give him something of mine.

That is it for now. I hope you enjoy! Talk to you soon!
