Day 3: Article

Almost all of us have heard of the film, "Yes Man" starring the eccentric, Jim Carrey. But do you know that it was based off of a real man's story? This article talks with the original "yes man", Danny Wallace.

This articles touches base on many of Wallace's antics, but the thing most intriguing to me was the first sixteen words of the article. It was a quote by Wallace himself, "It's the little things in life that can actually make you think about the biggest things."

I am only two, maybe three days, into this project (depending on what you consider a day), and I already understand what he means. I have been discovering all these little decisions that everyone makes in a day without thinking about it. It's amazing what you discover when you force yourself to think about something. Not only have I discovered all of the little decisions everyone makes, but I have also discovered the impact those decisions have on your big decisions.

Like I discussed with chapel on my other (Day 3 Post). I chose to go to chapel (small decision). I chose to go to the Paul Conn Center as opposed to the Dixon Center (small decision). With that I was choosing to listen to Steve Fitzhugh instead of Steve Taylor. (small decision) [By this point in writing I wish I would have chosen Steve Taylor because his name is easier to spell] Though choosing Fitzhugh was a small decision the decisions I am choosing to make inspired by his speech are not small at all. Choosing to be an EVERYDAY soldier for God. (BIG decision) I have chosen to not settle for a man who is a "hot dog" and not a "steak" as Fitzhugh puts it, or who a "weasel" and not an "uncommon" as Gianna Jessen puts it. (BIG decision) I have decided no to rely on my will, but God's power. (BIG decision) I have decided I can't give up on my destiny, or give in to my temptation beacuse Jesus did not give up when He was hanging on the cross so I owe it to Him. (BIG decision) All of these big decisions I have made because of a few small decisions. Wallace is right, "It's the little things in life that can actually make you think about the biggest things."
